Summer is a season of energy, warmth, blooming, fruiting—and finding spaciousness and rest amidst the buzz-iness and heat. Join us for our first virtual forest bathing program as we soak in the summer energy of these longest days of the year.
Forest bathing, inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, is a practice of immersing ourselves in the natural world through our senses. Through a series of invitations—gentle, mindful, bodyful, and spiritual prompts—participants can realign with the cycles of nature, reawaken the power of their senses, and nurture relationships with themselves, nature, and spirit. This practice offers many benefits, such as reducing stress, restoring focus, boosting creativity and mood, supporting immune health, and deepening belonging and meaning.
Accessible wherever you have a phone or internet connection, this virtual program will make it easy to harvest these fruits from a convenient location. The experience will weave together several activities, including guided meditation and invitations that connect us with nature through sights, sounds, textures, smells, imagination, spirit, and feeling. We will dive into summer's abundance of energy, balancing with rest, and explore ways to nourish the soul with spiritual practice amidst the longest days and shortest nights of the year.
Invitations will be adaptable for each person to participate in the way that is best for them. All are very welcome to register and join us for this program. There is no background, experience, or skill level needed.
YOUR GUIDE
Ilana Rubin will host this as a CSN contributing partner. She is a forest bathing and nature therapy guide trained and certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs. She has been guiding forest bathing since 2021 when she founded Kindred Nature to help restore and reconnect health and relationships of and between people and the natural world. She has guided events for diverse groups and for organizations including the US Forest Service, the GW Office of Integrative Medicine and Health, and the Potomac Riverkeeper Network. Now, we are excited to welcome her to share forest bathing with spirituality with you, too. Please join us!
We do not want anyone to be unable to participate because of the cost of this program. Please email Meighan for scholarship information at: meighan.fraga@spiritualityinnature.org.
