
Heidi Holliday McKitrick, Executive Director
Heidi Holliday McKitrick brings two decades of nonprofit leadership experience to The Center for Spirituality in Nature, as well as deep roots in environmentalism, sustainability, spirituality, and activism. On weekends, you can find her exploring the trails of the Texas hill country and beyond with her three children. She finds peace on the trail, and in her meditation and mindfulness practice.
Prior to joining the Center, she served as executive director of three different nonprofits, a nonprofit consultant, as a registered lobbyist in the Kansas Statehouse, and on the board of local and regional nonprofit organizations. She grew up working in her parent’s bicycle shop and has explored 17 states by bicycle, including cycling the TransAmerica trail from Oregon to Virginia and the Santa Fe Trail from Missouri to New Mexico.

Heidi is passionate about getting people outside and into nature, and regularly leads child-friendly hikes with the Walking Moms of Austin. She's a trained mediator, an experienced facilitator, and a trusted community leader. She currently serves as a volunteer Neighborhood Commissioner for the City of San Marcos, Texas, and volunteers with trail advocacy groups.
Heidi moved to the Austin, Texas area in 2022 after spending over a decade in Kansas City. She received a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Bachelor of Arts in Global Peace and Justice Studies from Bethel College.
She’s an avid gardener, and is enjoying the abundance of hiking, biking, and camping opportunities in Texas.
